CoderDojo Collaborative

…After a hard 3 months of tech training, the class and I decided to smile to pay respect to their accomplishments this session.

Starting in 2016 with only ONE class, I’ve been able to be an essential builder of what is now https://coderdojocollaborative.org/ which includes FREE technical lessons for children age 5-17. I am a firm supporter giving the gift of knowledge to the next generation and creating future leaders.

For nearly 5 years, I’ve provided students (we call them Ninjas) of the dojo expert advice in the realm of tech, teaching classes such as:

  • Javascript

  • Intro to Computer Programming

  • Website Building - We took part in a City of San Antonio Challenge

  • HTML/CSS

While keeping a large group of children attentive through rigorous learning, my best accomplishment is attached to the many students who I have mentored, who then became mentors themselves. The reward of lending my learned lessons for a younger mentor to then pass that on to their peers has been a true blessing.

CoderDojo Scratch Presentation

This video showcases some of the work I'm most proud of, that which provides a service to our youth and encourages their passions in tech.

After only 10 days of rigorous study, this class learned simple scratch skills, how to work as a team and also how to present and give a demonstration of their work

The purpose of life is to discover your gift.
The work of life is to develop it.
The meaning of life is to give your gift away.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Mentoring 101 Class for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of South Texas has allowed me to foster a mentor/mentee relationship with a young man, who I am extremely proud of. The BBBS program allows mentors/mentees of various backgrounds to potentially “match” and commit to engagements which are mutually beneficial but provide moral, emotional and foundational support for mentees, no matter their circumstance.

The 1:1 interaction that my mentee and I participate in is valuable in both growth and wisdom.

BBBS has also allowed me to connect with other peers who are passionate about helping the next generation so that we may cultivate something special for our future leaders.
